mileage should be no problem for the panda: people here have cars with more than 200.000 km ( well, 100,000 miles are 160,000 km)still doing well.

I'd be more worried by the long haul lorry appearing in the mirror
( remember the movie DUEL by Stephen Spielberg?...) :)

Why should a museum buy a 4x4 panda from the Uk and not from Italy?? this is really awkward.. maybe they wanted a right hand drive?

took all the time to read the full story of juppy from the beginning...
piece of your life, indeed! painful separation.

the 500 looks great too!!

ps.you are a great mechanic!! the idea of the tube for the air intake in winter and the recycled washing machine drum
fastener to reduce gear lever's play are very smart!!
of course having a workshop available many things get easier...

Thank you. The reason they wanted the car was that Jim who took it to the US has also taken over a neuvo Fiat 500 (the first 500 to set foot on US soil, a year before Fiat did) and a Fiat Multipla. The owner of the museum had seen the restoration and Juppy's history and thats the main reason he wanted it. You can see now why I have such an attatchment to the car after all the work that went into it.

Mechanic, yes I'm lucky that I can do a lot of the work myself and as Italian cars play such a big role in my life I try to think of ways to improve them without taking away from their originality. I should have been born in Italy [8D]
